Declaring the shots

This concept is part of the 7th fundamental of marksmanship. It means you can declare where the shot landed on the target while still lying behind your rifle. Your declaration will be accurate if you can prove it on the target once you stand in front of the target. Many have tried to determine where the declaration needs to be taken, but in short, it is your brain taking a photo-like image at the crack of the shot, just before the recoil disturbs the sight picture. For the trained eye, it will be in your head the moment the shot goes off. Consequently, it would be best to mention this in your dope, as you must either cancel the shot and the placement or redo it. Either way, each individual must develop a way to declare the shot.
